We are excited to announce that the MSG 2019 Research in Progress Meeting will be held on Tuesday 5th March at the University of Portsmouth. See all the details below.

Social events: There will be social events on both the evening of Monday 4th March and Tuesday 5th March– open to everyone! Both will include opportunities for dinner/ drinks, with ‘MetaCurry’ likely on Monday 4th March (depending on numbers). Please sign up at online registration.
Workshop
A one-day workshop on laser ablation techniques held on Monday, 4th March 2019 at the University of Portsmouth. This workshop will be aimed at postgraduate students and those new to laser ablation techniques and will cover topics including laser mapping, geochronology, data handling, Hf and other isotopic systems. The workshop will be supported by SciMed.
Provisional order of day:
10-11: Introduction
11-12: Lab tours and instrumentation
12-1: Lunch
1-2: Intro to trace element and U-Th-Pb isotope measurements
2-3: Other isotopic systems by LA-ICP-MS and MC-ICP-MS (e.g. Pb, Hf, Nd)
3-4: Laser mapping
4-5: Data handling
5- : MSG icebreaker
Registration for the workshop will be free for postgraduate students (sponsored by SciMed). This will include lunch and refreshments. A dinner and ice breaker drinks (which MSG RiP attendees are also welcome to attend) will be organised on the evening of the 4th March (not covered by workshop registration).
